This 8 week course will teach you how to look after a person with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). The course outlines the following topics: Lifeism, Behaviourism, Overism, Comprehensism, Empathism & Skillsism.
This course also discusses and participants learn about the quality of life for an individual with ASD, and why they are prevented from doing things they want to do. Other topics will include how participants will learn more about the differences of learned behaviours, meltdowns & the strategies to handle them, what are the drivers of concern in a meltdown & how to handle them.
This course is for you as a parent/carer/teacher/support worker to learn the skills necessary, to help your teen/adult grow up to be independent adults in the world. The sooner you gain the skills necessary to help them, the quicker they learn to adapt to become totally independent people themselves.
Aspektism has been written and developed from a lived individual’s perspective on the autism spectrum disorder. All advice given in this course is dependent on the level of impairment of the individual with ASD.

This course has been developed by Kerryn Burgoyne — Founder/Director of KTalk. This whole course is based on Kerryn’s life experiences. She was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome at the age of 30. She did not know what the problem was beforehand. Suffering much throughout her whole life, Kerryn then discovered what mattered most: — Finding out what autism spectrum disorder was, and how it affected both her life and others around her.
